PROSTHODONTICS


Prosthodontics deals with advanced form of sequencing treatment, restorative treatment and maintenance which encompasses diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and post procedural care of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth and/or oral and maxillofacial tissues using biocompatible substitutes.


The department has separate undergraduate and post graduate sections. The undergraduate course in the department was started in 1991 and got recognized by DCI in 1996 whereas the Post-Graduate Course was started in the year 1998 and got recognized by DCI in the year 2001. The post graduate seats have been increased from two to four per year from the year 2010. Additionally, the Dental mechanics’ course was started in 2007-08 with 10 admissions from the academic year 2009-2010. The department has witnessed the success of 23 graduate batches and 16 post-graduate batches passed out from here and now spreading the glory of the institute across the world!



VISION STATEMENT


It’s a right for every human to look human… and this right should be protected even in case of some oro-facial structural deficiency. Our department supports this and renders free and quality treatment to all the patients irrespective of their socio-economic status to increase their oral health related quality of life.

Affiliation


  • Our department has conjoined hands with various schools in and around Sullia, and we conduct various school dental health education programmes and treatment camps in these schools.
  • Dental treatment to children is also delivered at satellite dental clinic, Bellare.
  • Treatment is also provided at the dental unit affiliated to Govt. Hospital Sullia.
  • Several schools are adopted and dental treatment delivered either in school by mobile dental unit or in the department.
  • Treatments under general anesthesia are done in K.V.G Medical College O.T

Treatment Profile


  • Our department deals with patients in formative years exhibiting rapid growth and development and hence we diagnose, intercept and treat oral diseases in the initial stage and assure complete oral health and indirectly total general health.
  • Pediatric dentist are in excellent position to understand the need of special child, including medically, physically and mentally handicapped and extent their services to them.
  • We also share an important responsibility in the overall management of cleft lip and palate patients.
  • The department of Pediatric dentistry is been active over two decades in providing comprehensive oral health care to children in and around Sullia taluk, neighboring taluks, and also Kasargod and surrounding parts of Kerala.
  • Our department is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
  • Department is gifted with highly dedicated, experienced teaching staff and academicians and efficient c1inicians headed by Prof. Dr.Savitha Sathyaprasad.
